DYSPORT AFTERCARE
Pre-Treatment
1. Avoid (7 days before): Aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E, fish oil, omega-3 supplements, gingko, garlic supplements, ginseng, St. John’s Wort.
2. Avoid alcohol (24- 48 hours prior)
3. If you are on prescription blood thinners, please notify your provider- do NOT stop prescribed medications without medical approval.
PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU:
Are pregnant and/or breastfeeding
Have a history of neuromuscular disorders (ex Myasthenia Gravis)
Have had facial surgery, fillers, or neurotoxin treatments in the last 2 weeks
Are feeling unwell or have an active infection near the treatment area
Post-Treatment
1. Avoid herbal supplements such as Ginkgo, green tea, and anti-inflammatories of any kind for a week following treatment in order to limit bruising
2. Remain upright for the first 5-6 hours
3. Do not participate in activities that include heavy lifting, vigorous exercise or straining for 4-5 hours
4. Avoid irritating products (Retinols, Glycolic acids, acne medications, etc.) for at least 24 hours
5. Do not rub, touch, or manipulate the injection sites
6. It may take up to 10 days to see the final result
7. If your upper lip was treated you may not be able to drink through a straw, whistle, or enunciate some words for approximately 2 weeks
8. A follow-up visit at 2 weeks will be suggested to assess the results of your treatment, especially if you are a first-time client
9. Bruising in the area injected is normal, especially if treated around the eyes. Bruising can last up to several days. Arnica may help diminish bruising (topical or pill).
10. Expect treatment to last 3-6 months
11. Regular injections usually yield longer lasting results
12. Although rare, infection in the injected area is possible. Signs of infection may include redness, tenderness, mild swelling, small bumps or pustule forming, low-grade fever. Please contact your primary care provider immediately. Although rare, please go to Urgent Care or ER if you have a high fever of over 101, rapidly spreading redness at the injection site, red streaking spreading from injection site, and feeling generally ill or deteriorating quickly.

SIGNS OF AN ALLERGIC REACTION:
Difficulty breathing
Throat tightening
Hives, rash, or severe itching
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
Dizziness
SIGNS OF BOTULINUM TOXIN SPREAD:
Difficulty swallowing
Difficulty speaking or slurred speech
Generalized muscle weakness
Loss of bladder control
Double vision or severe drooping of eyelids
Loss of bladder control
